Danube Governance Conference

Danube Governance Conference: “Towards European integration with the SDGs” - was the final event of the program Building Administrative Capacities in the Danube Region (BACID), held online on Thursday, 28th January 2021, 09:30 to 17:00 (CET)

The conference was opened by Michael Ludwig, the mayor and governor of Vienna and President of the Austrian Association of Cities and Towns. KDZ - Zentrum für Verwaltungsforschung and their project partners from the past years discussed the topics identified as priorities in improving local and regional governance in the countries of the Western Balkans and Moldova on their way towards European integration and how the Sustainable Development Goals can support this process. 

The event was brought together by public institutions, think tanks and civil society organizations from the Danube Region, as well as representatives of the EU and international organizations that are supporting European integration and public administration reforms in the region. The online conference used the opportunity to present challenges and achievements, discuss possible solutions and network for future collaborations.

Stefan August Lütgenau, director of Foster Europe Foundation moderated the panel Strengthening participation and civil society where practitioners and researchers talked about their experiences with citizen participation in decision-making processes on the local level.
